Garthbeg Coat Of Arms

The Lost Families of Stratherrick, Strathnairn, and Dunmaglass, Inverness-shire, Scotland

I have been contacted by Mary Shadbolt from New Zealand.  Mary's ancestors come into possession of the Garthbeg Tack sometime in the middle of the 19th Century.  I know that my 3rd-great-grandfather had it until his death in 1834.  Then, Archibald's son Duncan McTavish held it for quite some time.  Duncan died in 1896.  Mary in her article proves that her ancestors Alexander and Jessie McDonell held the tack after Duncan.

In this section, I will attempt to research and record as much of the history of Garthbeg as I am able.  If you have anything to add please e-mail me.  I am so grateful for all of the contacts that I have made over the years!

Let us start with Mary's story and add to it from  there!
