Greetings from New Zealand to the people of Stratherrick. My brother and I have been researching the Huggard connections for many years now and it is only since I have become able to use these magnificent computer machines that I have added so much. We have both visited the Dochfour/ Bona Church area at different times. This seems to be the HQ of the family for many years, my Great Great Grandfather Samuel being employed at the Dochfour Estate. His wife Margaret Fraser and he sired I think 12 children there. His death certificate states that he died at Ballindarroch Dores 5 June 1883, aged74. Margaret died 16 days later also at Ballindarroch. Her death certificate states that her father was John Fraser Schoolmaster (dcd) and her mother Elizabeth Fraser (m.s. MacKintosh) (dcd). The 1851 Scotland Census gives Elizabeth's condition a Pauper- mother-in-law of Samuel and Margaret and that she was born in Stratherrick.
That is where I come in. I would like more details of this information and as much about your area that is appropriate. My wife and I will be returning to Inverness and the Beauly district in 2-3 years time and I would like to be armed with as much info as I can be.
Another hiccup we have is with Samuels father John Huggard. NB There are recorded many different spellings of the name eg Huggard,Haggard,Haggart,Hagget,Hugard and Huggart all relating to this family. We are unable to locate John Huggard's birth certificate although we know he married firstly Christine Bain and then Margaret Ross. He was a Vintner at Teawigg in 1817. There is more to come but I will wait for another time.

Welcome!

This forum has been quiet lately, but I hope to get some life back into it very soon. As most of you know my husband died 8 months ago, and I am finally getting back on my feet again. Trevor has sent me his family information, and I have information from so many other people that will be getting on the website shortly. I am going on a family vacation in Northern Wisconsin - near Lake Superior next week, and when I get back I will get this computer fired up again and get moving!
