I am new to the forum...stumbled on your site and find it very educational! I especially find the picture on the home page hauntingly beautiful, as are all of the pictures found on the site!

I look forward to chatting with you all.

too true , welcome.....its a warm emotional "tug' eh within that garthbeg home ...good to see....
a very strange fact re the mactavish i never appreciated until too late ( as all good things in life)...BUt...i was told by my dad and his brothers that "us mactavish were built wrong...our backbone was hard as steel BUt our heart was too close to our eyes and on ALL the unwanted occasions tears would burst out at the MOST unwanted time...for some reason we have difficuctly sheading a tear at times "others think we should " yet for some unknown reason ...a moment of joy or passion or sorrow will allow the old salty dew slide down our cheeks...???
BUT we are forever reluctant to admit it ...nor share it....arghhh that mactavish spirit...
welcome aboard....

Now that I have 2 small kids, I am probably more of a Buzz Kill (as we call it on this side of the pond) than a Fast Cat.

REALMACTAVISH, do you know what a Buzz Kill is, and how it got it's name?

Buzz Kill is a spoil sport...you know when you are having a good time drinking beer, scotch, etc, and you fall down and need 10 stitches in your head, or break your wrist? Well, the fall was the "buzz kill." It killed the buzz you were enjoying 10 seconds earlier.

Yes, I believe I used to be a Fast Cat, but am probably more of a buzz kill these days.
