IM A DOG LOVER AND HERE ARE A COUPLE OF SNIPPETS FOR YOU

MALCOLM POLTOLLOCH BOUGHT PART OF DUNARDRY AND ON THAT LAND HE BRED THE FIRST WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIOR (WESTIE). THAT WAS ABOUT 1900, BEFORE THAT IF THEY GOT A WHITE PUPPY IN A LITTER OF CAIRNS THEY WOULD KILL IT ; THESE WERE HUNTING DOGS AND A WHITE DOG COULDNT BE SEEN IN THE SNOW. THANKFULLY POLTOLLOCH DECIDED TO BREED THE WHITE ONES AS A SEPERATE BREED. I HAVE ONE CALLED LACHIE!
TRADITIONALLY THE ANCIENT MACTAVISH ALWAYS KEPT DEERHOUNDS AND IRISH WOLFHOUNDS, BOTH VERY LARGE AND FAITHFUL DOGS. I SHOULD IMAGINE THAT THAMHAIS MHOR OF DUNARDRY ANDTHAMHAIS MHOR OF GARTHBEG HAD THESE DOGS AS FELLOW HUNTERS AND COMPANIONS

Hi cousins---Im just home from a very tiring but awesome drive home from Skye--
Sad to say my gaelic is still rubbish but Im feeling quite re-charged and full of the celtic spirit!
Migovie has an amazing memory--I did find some correspondence in the national archives ages ago between an Alex MacTavish(head dog handler) and his employer Angus? Mackintosh(chief Clan Chattan at that time I think----) regarding dog shows etc ---I cant remember the exact dates ---maybe mid-1800's but was certainly based around the Strathnairn area----tho the Mac(K)intosh chief seemed to be located in Canada at one point---
Im a dog lover too and funnily enough have a lodger who happens to be a white german shepherd! (he does'nt believe he's a dog!)
Well---SLA'INTE MHO'R-- my friends ----and-by the way---
CO' AN CAORA SIN CO'MHLA RIUT A CHUNNAIC MI AN-RAOIR?
I did warn you my gaelic was bad!
