Hi,
Thought it was time to tap out a question that has been gnawing away at me.
My gggrandfather Donald McTavish immigrated to Australia in 1839 with his wife and family. They are recorded on the Garthbeg web site under Dugald McTavish. Also on board was his sister Janet McTavish. The information I have indicates that Donald was born 1791 and Janet about 1814 to John McTavish and Mary Fraser.
It seems strange to me that there would be such a lengthy period between children hence I surmise that there are other children to John and Mary who remained in Scotland.
Can anyone help me with filling in these gaps?
On a separate tangent I noted the family reference to Magdalene McTavish on the Garthbeg site. Along with her husband Alexander Fraser she immigrated to Australia and is buried in the Merton cemetery. Merton is basically a neighbouring town to where I live in Alexandra so I dropped in and located their grave. Next time I will take a camera tp provide a photo for the web site.
My line of McTavish did not come to this area, the North East of Victoria, instead they went to Southern New South Wales and then moved North towards the Queensland border.
I hope someone can help me.
