dette has found a good lead for our missing gt uncle ...alexander henry mctavish...it appears he went to vancouver canada to live sometime betwen 1902 and 1912 as hes mentioned in his dads obituary ...the death of alexr james mctavish in 1912...so still hunting there too....take care.....

Just to let you know that I have many Mactavish relatives in New Zealand.
In 1922 my uncles Thomas, William and Archie Mactavish emigrated from Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland with several other related families.
The descendents of these emigrants are to be found in Auckland, etc.

och.....let me do a shuffle thru that for you too donmack....theres quite a few mactavish in both new zealand and australia....the warmer temp musta got them going ....i think at last count there was over 2,000 mactavish between both countries....arghhhh such a wee clan....

my word, 2,000 McT's???? I bet in all of the United States, there are not more than 10,000.......so if you have 2,000 that is incredible!
