In 1835 my ancestor Alexr Mactavish, Solicitor, was presented a "silver plate" in Inverness bearing the following inscription....
" presented to Alexr Mactavish by his friends and brother electors as a mark of high estimation of the zeal judgement and ability displayed by him in maintaining the purity of the roll of electors in the county of Inverness district of burghs during an arduous contest Oct 1835."
Someone, somewhere now has this plate....I wish to purchase this and return it to his family...if you do not wish to sell at the moment PLEASE give me first option at any future date. If it is safe and secure I am happy with that but would prefer to purchase this and return it to his immediate family as his will of 1855 is emphatic it was never to leave his line.
