he is granted the title "of dunardry" by the 6th duke of argylle and this title gives simon mactavish and son william as heir the titles "of dunardry"

and such is accepted as fact that william mactavish (simon,s son) was legal and justifiably able to "bear the heraldic titles 'of dunardry by documents sighted and presented 'to the 6th duke of argylle who then styles simons son as "now being known as armiger of dunardry" and the fact simon mactavish was also "known to be armiger of dunardry"...
AND lets also place the fact that the "gentlemans magazine of 1818" ..describes william mactavish as "william mactavish of dunardry" and lets state also
